Six weeks into the lockdown and we have been busy adding new vendors to the Designed in Dorset website and getting used to a virtual way of doing things. For us it seems there is no better way to spend our time than getting to know some more of our vendors more intimately. We asked Nas from Piece Designs to tell us more about what got her started designing jewellery, what she loves about Dorset and a few other useful tips. Nas joined the Designed in Dorset marketplace in November 2019 and handcrafts her own jewellery designs.
How did you end up making jewellery?
A friend bought me a 6 week silversmithing course as a gift and I was hooked!
What’s the biggest challenge for a small business like yours?
I'm always delighted by the response from people when they see my jewellery, but the biggest challenge is making sure enough people find out about my designs.
What do you like most about living in Dorset?
The space and feeling of freedom and because we have both beautiful countryside and stunning beaches.
Where is your favourite spot in Dorset and Why?
I love Evening Hill in Poole. I often sit there to watch the sunset and enjoy the stunning view of Brownsea Island and the Purbecks, but then the Tarrant Valleys and bluebell woods call me too.
What is your favourite shop in Dorset and Why?
I love individuality, so let me loose in a craft fayre or farmers market and I'm in heaven
What is your favourite Product from Dorset?
There are so many talented people in Dorset who produce amazing products, but for me it has to be all the fresh produce that we grow locally.
Any tips for surviving the lockdown
When you can't go outside, go inside.... meditate, also exercise regularly and eat good food. Remember that this is a unique experience and whatever you feel will pass.
Thank you Nas for taking part in our meet the vendor blog and thank you for joining the Designed in Dorset marketplace. You can see more of these beatiful designs by following Nas on her Instagram account@
