Hand-printed Prussian Blue Cyanotype tealight holders or 'table lanterns'. I print the cotton by hand, using the photo-sensitive Cyanotype process, together with foliage and plants from the Dorset countryside and expose them to sunshine. The variations in tone and shades of blue in each lantern will depend on the plants used and the strength of the sun in which they are exposed. The lanterns are 10cm x 12cm and are made from cotton, backed by a white fire-resistant PVC material. Designed to be used with either a tealight inside a heat-proof glass or a battery tealight, they also look really pretty with miniature LED lights (not provided).  They are perfect for cosy nights in to illuminate a supper table or mantelpiece and look particularly atmospheric on a window sill.
Please note: Due to the nature of the process, each print is unique and may vary slightly from the pictured product. Made to order, I am happy to take commissions for a Cyanotype tealight holder if you would like more of them, or ones with a different design.

Safety note: Do not use with a naked flame unless tealight is inside a heatproof glass in the holder and NEVER leave unattended.

The Cyanotype process is a 19th Century photographic process that uses iron salts and sunshine to create a beautiful Prussian Blue colour; it is the original 'blueprint'. In the 1800s, botanist Anna Atkins was the first person to use photographs to illustrate a book by using Cyanotypes and this is the same process that I use today!
