This 38cm x 15cm cylinder lamp is a one-off design and the fabric has been printed by hand, using the photo-sensitive Cyanotype process. This produces the wonderful Prussian Blue colour. I have used leaves as stencils; Horse Chestnut, Oak, Beech, Hazel, Elder and Sycamore sourced from the gorgeous Dorset countryside where I live. Made from cotton with a white pvc lining, the lampshade is UV stable, fire-resistant and glow wire test certified (lighting association). The lamp would look lovely on a dining table, window sill or beside your bed and it comes with 3 integrated rubber feet, a white electrical cable & switch with a standard UK 13amp plug. Made to order, I am happy to take commissions for these lamps if you would like more of them, or ones with a similar design.
The Cyanotype process is a 19th Century photographic process that uses iron salts and sunshine to create a beautiful Prussian Blue colour; it is the original 'blueprint'. In the 1800s, botanist Anna Atkins was the first person to use photographs to illustrate a book by using Cyanotypes and this is the same process that I use today.
